I haven't been to The Drop in over a year. We tried the new Dinner menu items. The beef on blu was perfectly cooked. Also loved the bone marrow ravioli special of the day. Wine was great and the atmosphere was even better. I will definitely be back for lunch!

Went on a Friday night around 7pm and there was ample seating, didn't start to get busy till 8ish. Had a "Funny Honey" cocktail, which was a little too sweet (I don't know why I was expecting something different with a name like that - haha). My friend had the "Not Too Shady" cocktail which was actually very delicious! Both were definitely strong cocktails - which is appreciated at $9.50 each. We split the steak kabobs, which were tender and yummy. They served it with this phenomenal salad. Oh so good! The place is rather loud but I think its much more of a bar than bistro after 7pm. Our server (brunette w/ glasses - don't remember her name) was very nice and as attentive as she could be given the lack of staff and volume of customers steadily coming in. Note to management - give the outnumbered servers a hand by hiring a buser or something.

Hipsterdom comes to KC in the form of this martini bar. They have an extensive martini menu and a great beer list as well. Their food menu focuses on creative bruschettas. There is a list of about 10 and you order 4 off the list for $12. I went with a couple of friends - we ordered two appetizers (half off during happy hour, which we missed by 15 minutes...damn). Marinated olives and an antipasto platter were our choices. The olives were good. The antipasto platter had a couple of cheeses, salami, prosciutto, artichoke hearts, figs and a couple other things. For our bruschettas we picked a salami/pepper, wild mushrooms and bacon, white bean and truffle oil, and cheese, figs and pistachios. All of them were excellent, but the mushroom/bacon and fig pistachio stood out for me. Dessert was a chocolate pannini - nutella and bananas. Yum-o.

Great space, great service, great food. More known for cocktails than food, I suppose, and the cocktails really are incredibly. The red wine martini is a little bit martini, a little bit sangria and a lot delicious. They also have an impressive beer/wine list. The food. Understated, but creative and delicious. Great presentation and my favorite thing on the menu is the bruschetta. Choose four from the offerings which include things like goat cheese, fig and pistachio or garlic and sun-dried tomatoes. One order is enough for two people to share, especially if you get salads or a dessert as well. Not all the options are vegetarian, but many are, and all of them are incredibly tasty. The decor is modern and tasteful (I love the wine glass chandeliers!) and the service is always on top of it. Never a disappointment!

I went to The Drop after getting the Groupon. I have heard only good things about their Happy Hour and I think that is where I went wrong. I went for dinner. The appetizers we had were amazing and the martinis or "Drop Specials" were very unique and tasty. I got the hummus and the my wife got the crab cakes. Very good! Our waitress was very nice and helpful and I will be going back, but only for happy hour. Our dinner meatballs and lamburgers were not very good. The meatballs were huge, but tasted more like meatloaf stuffed with goat cheese. The lamburgers weren't too bad,but nothing I would return for. Go for happy hour - skip the dinner :)

Let me preface this review by saying my real rating is 3.5-- I gave it a 4 rather than a 3 because I like to round up. Anyway, Manya was our server and she was delightful. She did note she normally does not work Sundays, and I still found her to be pleasant, unobtrusive, and knowledgeable. Sunday's are great because The Drop offers a Prix Fixe menu for two people, for $60. This includes a bottle of wine, a salad, three tapas-style dishes, and a desert. The salads we had were fresh and delightful. I found the tapas to be simple and well-executed, although if I'm being picky, the mussels could be simpler, while bread wasn't conducive to soaking up the broth. The salmon dish we had wasn't too dry, but should have been cooked all the way through on a lower heat. The lamburgers were my favorite-- the brioche bun was light, the lamb moist and flavorful. For desert, we had Jude's rum cake which was moist and delicious. We chose the Rioja Sierra Cantabria wine, and it was bold and not too tart. I found it odd that the place was mostly empty... This seems almost like a diamond in the rough.

I really enjoy The Drop, but it seems to slip my mind when I'm thinking of places to go for food/drinks. I was looking for a place to sit outside to enjoy the nice weather w/ some healthy food options & voila! The Drop fit the bill. The bruscettas (choose 4 flavor combos) are a good deal, great for sharing w/ friends & tasty. My current fave bruscetta is the smoked mozzarella/sun-dried tomato/pesto. Crab cakes were ok, nice shallot remoulade. Salads (arugula-citrus & ensalada verde) were large & fresh. Ryan's Cup specialty cocktail was super - a twist on a Pimm's Cup w/ Pimm's, Rye (yes please) & ginger. I'm definitely going back to enjoy this fine drink again, perhaps when all specialty cocktails are $5 during happy hour (M-F 4-7). Good selection of beers too. The deck/patio is a great space to kick back & enjoy a leisurely meal on a lovely day. The Drop is simply a satisfying place that I will try to keep on my radar.

bruschetta = AMAZING!! potatoes = Delicious! martinis = overpriced, but pretty good service = not so good our server just acted like she could have cared less about us. the food actually arrived before my drink and she made a huge issue about it when I asked for water. maybe happy hour is better? (when the martinis and most of the apps are half price) will try it again, but I'm not in any rush.

The Drop is my favorite establishment in Martini Corner, It's classy, fun, casual, romantic, yet great for Girls' Night Out...all at the same time! I love their old school music videos that play on the TVs. They have devilishly good martinis and cocktails, you can definitely taste the liquor in. They also have the most original use of alcohol that I've experiences: Edible Cocktails. YUMM-O. They have a high alcohol content but in the form of adult jello shot. Regular flavors include: Lemon Drop; Mojito; Godiva/Grand Marnier; Port Wine and Hazelnut; Amaretto; and Baileys Irish Cream and Coffee, with some special flavors featured occasionally. Food wise, I've only tried their widely popular bruschettas. They are delicious! This is not your normal bruschetta. It's about 4x3 inches in size, and dressed with different toppings. You get four for $15. Here are the flavors: (My favorites are starred) *Brie, apple, balsamic cream, candied pecans *Smoked salmon, cream cheese, sliced almonds Red grape, gorgonzola, port wine reduction *Goat cheese, citrus cranberry compote, browned butter Genoa salami, peppadew, fresh basil *Oven-dried tomato, smoked mozzarella, basil pesto Prosciutto, roasted garlic, romesco *Citrus-marinated shrimp, white bean, roasted garlic *Carpaccio of beef, porcini crème, capers, micro greens Goat cheese, fig, pistachio Next on my To-Do, try The Drop for lunch/dinner!

La la lahve The Drop. Although I will never go for the Edible Cocktails. Just looking at pictures of them, those things give me the willies. That may be my aversion to all things gelatinous though. Swanky decor, martini list for days and always great service. If you go and get a blonde named Jocelyn waiting on you, tip her big bucks (Yelp plug for my roomie, I'm so thoughtful!). Yes, I'm giving 5 stars to a place where I've never even sampled the menu. The ambiance, service, crowd and quality of everything else just get me every time. Make sure to plug way too much money into the song/video machine...I'm such a sucker for little novelties like that.

Wowsers, I really enjoyed The Drop. Had a good friend in town and we decided to partake in some early afternoon food and drink. We should have checked Yelp first as we arrived to Martini Corner earlier than most places were open. After killing time and playing shuffleboard next door, we moseyed over to The Drop. We got a killer table inside by the window, and could people watch all over. 'Twas a little too hot to enjoy the fabulous deck. I ordered the divine Cherry Limeade. It was absolutely delicious, and perfect for the super hot day! My friends got some other tasty drinks, including the Tres Mangos, Bellini, and some other Mint and Basil (?) concoction. I had the Lychee martini after my Limeade, but I'll definitely be going back to try more. We also tried the eponymous Drop selection (think fancy Jello shots). I was impressed with all the liquor they were able to pack in those things! Our group of 4 each picked one of the bruschettas to share, keeping our options open to pick something that others would like. I enjoyed them all, and wanted more immediately. It was the perfect accompaniment to a long day of cocktails! We ordered: 1. Brie, apple, balsamic cream, candied pecans 2. Smoked salmon, cream cheese, sliced almonds 3. Red grape, gorgonzola, port wine reduction 4. Goat cheese, fig, pistachio I will definitely try and get down there more often for Happy Hour! It's kinda pricey without, but perfect for our day.

My dinner date talked this place up quite a bit, and it's not that I had set my expectations too high, I think I was just severely dissatisfied with their menu and the way the food turned out. The place does have a nice ambiance, and the potential to be very intimate at times. Charming, even. I also found the drink menu to be far superior to the dinner menu. After standing awkwardly by the door (a recurring theme in my dining experiences) waiting to be seated, we were given the drink and dinner menus. Drinks decided upon, we chose to pair those with the hummus for her and the margherita pizza for myself, not just because they sounded promising, but because we weren't about to start with $20 entrees on a whim that particular evening. Call me cheap. Actually, you can, since we had a coupon. Don't judge me. The $9 pizza was rather small, close to the size of those cheaply made oven pizzas you can get for $1 at the grocery store (again, don't judge me). It tasted fine enough, unremarkable one way or the other. After almost exclusively eating Jerusalem Cafe's pita & hummus for the better part of the last decade, I've become a bit spoiled with their recipe. This may be part of the reason I think the hummus from The Drop was clumpy, not fresh, and way too over spiced to compensate for a general lack of flavor. Overall, I felt like we were paying restaurant prices for bar quality food.

Loved the wide variety of bruschetta ... Lots of unique options! I had the pork medallion with gouda mashed potatoes, and the pork was very moist and well-seasoned. Also, the cocktails were wonderful, great atmosphere ... definitely recommended!

We went to The Drop on a Saturday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday and really enjoyed the experience. The bar is hip but not too pretentious, and the martinis are fab, particularly the Bellini Martini and the Cucumber Mint. Yummy! The area has a bunch of bars so parking seems to be at a premium, scary considering the inebriated state of many of the patrons of the lamesauce top 40 dance "club" across the street and the frat boy sports bar next door. I find it hard to believe that all of these Johnson County tagged cars have a designated driver for them. Regardless of this unfortunate situation, The Drop maintained a nice clientele. I wasn't too fond of the many t.v.s playing music videos, but at least the music was good. A nice spot for an evening out, I'd like to try it for happy hour as well.

As with most of my Yelp reviews, it all started with a Groupon. Because, yo, I'm thrifty. I'd been hanging onto this particular Groupon for months and finally cashed it in on a random Friday date night. My gentleman friend is a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to Manhattans (the cocktail, not the borough or the "little apple" in Kansas) and The Drop mixes up one of the finest he'd ever ordered. It was so good that I quickly switched from a dirty martini to a Manhattan of my own. We weren't hungry enough for a full on dinner, so we ordered the bruschetta, opting for the goat cheese, fig and pistachio (OMG THIS WAS LIKE HEAVEN IN MY MOUTH), apple and brie, and a few others of the vegetarian variety. I honestly can't remember the specifics... was too busy enjoying the goat cheese, fig and pistachio bruschetta. Because it was magical. The vibe at the drop was great - mellow, not super douchey (like Sol Cantina across the street tends to get after a certain hour) and generally filled with the "young profesh" crowd. Bonus: the weather was fantastic and all of the windows were open and a cool breeze wafted through the place. Overall? I'm a fan.

The Drop is one of my favorite places to visit. They have a great Happy Hour, and the atmosphere is also great. It's not a get-drunk party atmosphere, but a nice, grown-up environment where you can sit with friends, enjoy a drink, and take everything in. The bruschetta is simply amazing, a lot of diferent kinds to chose from. I had a chicken sandwich that was pretty good too, served with potato salad. Will be returning. And bringing my friends!

I found this place on Groupon and took my husband here for his birthday brunch and he and I absolutely loved it! Not only was our food super delish, but the presentation of it was awesome. Our waiter and the atmosphere were equally amazing! Definitely will be coming back! :)

This place is not one of my friends's favorites so we rarely go here. After reading several older reviews of this place, my official opinion is that this place has surpassed it's heyday. The times I've been here, even at 9pm on a Saturday night, there's not much going on. I've never seen this place crowded. Not saying it doesn't happen, I just haven't seen it. In fact, I've walked up to this bar to find it closed while all the surrounding Martini Corner bars were still open. I have never eaten here. They do have good drink specials. It's just, I guess I want my bars to have a little more life to them. This place seems to be hit or miss and if I'm going to hang out at Martini corner, I'll probably head to Barrel 31.

Normally I enjoy The Drop... Tonight when we went here the menu seems very pared down to very few dinner selections which was very disappointing. There was also a couple seated nearby using extremely profane language (and it takes a whole lot to offend me). It was all I could do to not get the check and walk out at a few points. Service was very slow. We received the wrong drinks...not even close to what we ordered. I hope this isn't a trend because I normally really enjoy The Drop.

We had the best time at The Drop. We went for Brunch on a Saturday. Got right in and was greeted with a smiling face. The Mimosas where fabulous and the food out of this world. We were so pleasantly surprised by the food. I had my 2 children (7, 10) they took care of them also. They served them fancy nonalcoholic cocktails in fancy glasses. It was the first time for brunch were they didn't want to leave early. I Think it out cooks the Classic cup by far. I highly recommend this spot. My favorite was the Italian Country Benedict.

This review I suppose is more for happy hour/drinks than anything else. I can't say that I've every had the food. First, the drinks. Any good happy hour place has to have good cocktails and good specials. The drop delivers on both fronts. Usually I will try their $5 special drink of the day and I must say I've never been disappointed. All of their other martinis that I've had have been good as well (although truth be told I'm more of a vodka rocks kind of girl). Their appetizers on happy hour are great and the butcher board is a great value at $9.50; my gf and I could barely finish it between the two of us. Excellent quality meats and cheeses. Atmosphere is cozy and intimate when its not real busy. The bar dining area can get a bit cramped when it is busy but that is nothing unique to any restaraunt. Is the drop my favorite place to go after work? no. but when I feel like being fancy ala Carrie Bradshaw this is the first place I think to go.

It was packed when we walked in & a bit hectic, but we were still greeted w/ a smiling face & sat immediately. The staff were all wearing street clothes, no uniforms or aprons. We ordered the lamb meatball sliders & salmon cakes for our appetizers. They were out of gorgonzola, red grape & honey bruschetta. Then the winter squash soup for our second course. We were informed moments later they had sold out of the squash soup & that it was being replaced by tomato bisque. The soup arrived before the apps and our server apologized & told us they would be right out. The soup was warm, but not hot. We also ordered the salmon bruschetta which arrived next. Our entrees, the chicken piccata & roasted jumbo shrimp w/ a tomato dill sauce over lemon risotto, were both a bit bland. The risotto was barely warm, but the shrimp & sauce were piping hot. The angel hair pasta was slightly over cooked. Angel hair is hard to cook & I often overcook it myself, ha! They should go with a different pasta though if they cannot get it consistently cooked properly. Our server then notified us that we would recieve dessert for free since there were a few small mixups, which was very nice of her! She brought us their chocolate cherry bread pudding & a grapefruit tart. The pudding was less sweet then most bread puddings I've had, but was nice w/ the slightly bitter dark chocolate & cherries. We weren't sure about the grapefruit tart at first. But the more we ate it, the more we loved it! Slightly bitter, perfectly sweet, smooth custard went well w/ the graham cracker crust, house made whipped cream & fresh blueberries. It was at this point we realized we never received our appetizers, the lamb slider & salmon cake. Our server apologized & offered to bring them out immediately. But we were full, so we asked her to box them to go. She was back in a few moments w/ both. They were absolutely craveable & I would absolutely go back for the lamb sliders! So even w/ a few hiccups we talked about coming back for drinks & some of their small plates. The service at Drop is very casual, though we loved our friendly waitress! There were definitely some menu items I will crave in the future! And some I'd like to forget....

Not impressed. I love brunch, and have found some amazing brunch spots, but this is definitely not on the list for a variety of reasons. We walked in, and the server told us to sit where ever. We did. Almost 7 minutes later we got the menu and some water. We came to slowly realize he was the only server in the restaurant and also the bartender... It was a Saturday afternoon. Not that busy, and none of the tables that had been left from earlier visits had been bussed. The server informed us it was just him working and one cook. What?!? How is that possible?? He did a pretty good job for being a one man show, but we were hungry and kinda ticked we had to wait to even get a menu. Small menu, but it seemed pretty tasty. I ordered the chorizo gravy and biscuits. My husband ordered the salmon cake benedict. It was not exciting and had little flavor. They messed up my order and brought me the chorizo hash and eggs. They immediately said we could enjoy that while making my actual order. It had no flavor and the potatoes were kinda soft, not crispy. I got my chorizo and biscuits and it had the most flavor out of all, but still bad. The chorizo tasted more like bland ground beef, and the gravy was a watery sauce, nothing gravy like about it. The biscuits were from a can. So disappointed. The main reason we went here was I had a groupon. They had to write down the info to redeem it and still shorted me $1.50 from the groupon. We didn't even care at that point, we just wanted out!! Definitely do not go there! I'm not sure what is going on at that place!

It's been awhile since we had been to the Drop, and the changes in layout and menu have been a big improvement! With a recent refocusing on a smaller menu and the bistro concept, The Drop is definitely a highlight of the Martini Corner experience. We stopped in for the Thursday night special - a bottle of wine and 4 selections from the bruschetta menu for $25. There were so many vegetarian options it was hard to pick four, but each one we selected was an incredible combination of savory, salty, and sweetness! Even the Lemon, Pea, and Parsley, which we thought might be a bit of a stretch, was a nice subtle treat. The bruschetta course is a light meal for two in and of itself, but everything was so delicious, we decided to split a grilled cheese sandwich and cup of tomato bisque after our bruschetta course - both were excellent! Service was wonderfully casual, providing great suggestions upfront and giving us plenty of room to have a date night conversation through the evening. We're really looking forward to sampling some of the other bruschetta options and the veggie sandwich on our next visit!

It was not a busy night. Maybe 8 tables. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 drinks the cocktails were ok. Not great for $10 each. 45 minutes later we still hadn't received food. The server said it was a computer problem. I saw one cook and 2 servers. The food was average after it eventually arrived. I probably wouldn't go back.

went again last night, sat on balcony. at first it wasn't looking like a good experience....the bartender April was busy with a guy and looked annoyed that we were there, got irritated with my date for wanting to dim the patio lights, kinda laughed at me when i said i wanted a fruity drink but ordered a chocolate one...after about 30 minutes, her attitude changed and everything was fine.

The Drop, I don't think I stop in as much as I should. I really do enjoy this place, the ambiance, the menu, drinks all work together so well. My most recent visit was for the CMYE event, which was great to begin with, most secondly if you are search for a happy hour that runs a little later this is a great choice; the happy hour goes till 7! Lets move right along to the food, I shared the choose four bruschetta, which will never disappoint; you get to have a choice of four different kinds so ultimately you should be able to find something you like! I had the adult cherry limeade to drink, be careful these are super good but can get you good and drunk with a few to many!

The Drop was a pretty place with brick and chandeliers and a pretty bar and cute couches in the front. It looked like a nice quiet, dark, romantic place. But it wasn't. The maitre d was nowhere in sight. The bartender was dressed in unattractive, sloppy jeans shorts and paid no attention to us until we went up to her at the bar and then she stood there and gossiped with the other bar staff. The service was extremely sloppy and unprofessional and seemed more appropriate for a cheap bar. Our waiter was better but very slow and inattentive. The sloppy junk closet was open and junk was spilling out. They could have closed the curtain that hid the junk room and junk closet but they didn't and we looked directly into it. The food was so-so. The lettuce wraps were not good at all and didn't even have the rind cut off of the cucumber slices. The choice of 4 bruschette plate had 2 ok choices and 2 that we thought were not good. The apple-brie bruschette was the best and was sweetish. The salami-pepadew had poor quality meat that didn't taste good. The Goat cheese and fig was OK. the fresh mozzerella with tomato was didn't taste fresh or particularly good. They also had several TVs prominently placed and running, along with loud music which made a potentially romantic place look like a sports bar. Not to mention the table of drunks at the tall table next to us that were loud and offensive and really, made it seem like somewhat of a dive, regardless of the appearance. The restroom was for men and women both and I imagine it got pretty nasty. None of their specialty drinks sounded good to me at all and I ended up with wine, which seemed safest.

Restaurant Week is to chance to cement a new customer relationship. Never skimp on Restaurant Week. But The Drop Bar and Upscale Bistro did skimp with other fatal issues. I chose The Drop strictly for what I thought was a menu that sounded simply delicious. I was so disapointed because I really wanted to find a great place that had a great menu. I was so prepared for a nice meal and it all fell apart on several levels. First, seating was a real issue since I was on crutches and only two tables were low. Or I had the choice to sit at a couch before a coffee table. Frankly I can do that at home in my jammies. Upscale Bistros should have seating that accomodate eveyone, not 20-somethings who love to jump up to catch a seat. There were less than 10 people there for a weekday lunch. My meal took 55 minutes from beginning to end. I didn't expect a 30 minute lunch but there was so few people there and I waited for 20 minutes to get my entree. I asked for a cup of hot tea for my drink. I was told they didn't have hot tea. Upscale bistros should have hot tea especially if they can make iced tea which I ordered. I was curious how they made iced tea then. When I got the menu, it said the first course was Lamb Meatball Sliders and Tzatziki Sauce with Greens. What I got was a SINGLE slider on a long and narrow plate covered in dry greens despite the menu stating the course was sliders, plural. This was skimping on what was promised from the menu. The Lamb Meatball was too small for the bun and unseasoned. It was steamed and tender, but unlike the Lamb Sliders they have served in the past. I checked photos on Yelp and saw that they normally were grilled. That changes the flavor immensely. The greens were a large wasted garnish because they were unseasoned and dry. The Tzatziki Sauce on the single slider was another sign of skimping on preparation. The cucumber was cut into large 1/2 inch unpeeled chunks. Very unpleasant to eat the waxy peeling. Then they topped it off with a drizzle of sirracha sauce. WHY? Because it would prove to be the only seasoning for the entire meal. I stop here to tell you that this "Upscale Bistro" cannot afford a water pitcher. Instead they use a recycled green wine bottle. If this was a raw food place, then maybe that would be fine, but not at a bistro claiming to be upscale. Please remove the big screen TV tuned to ESPN if you want to be a bistro, not a sports bar. The second course was something I really anticipated from the menu description. Jumbo Shrimp in Dill Tomato Sauce over Lemon Risotto. Shrimp less than the size of a half dollar coin are not jumbo. Plus three small shrimp is skimping. The crime is over-cooking the shrimp until a knife was the only way to cut them. The sauce was again unseasoned except for some parsley. NO DILL. I couldn't see or taste it. Also I got raw chunks of onion in the sauce with cooked chunks. Meaning this was not prepared fresh for the day but added to the previous day's sauce. It also had a mini oil slick sliding down one side of my plate. The Lemon Risotto was so sad. It had no flavor, was mushy and borderline gelatinous. I really believe that risotto is a gauge for a great kitchen. The Drop did not have a great kitchen that day. At this point, you should know that this bistro that does not season it's food or taste it before serving. They are so confident about the fare, they do not have salt or pepper on the tables. It was so really needed. Also, my entree plate which was square-ish had a huge chip on the corner which was discolored. Not appetizing. Again upscale does not include chipped dishes. Finally the third course. I love grapefruit and I hoped to save the meal with the Grapefruit Curd Tart in Piecrust. My heart sank when I saw the presentation in a small store-bought graham cracker crust in a tin. This crust was so hard I fought to break it up with my spoon. The curd had a strange chemical flavor and was runny. Topping this creation was a scant teaspoon of whipped cream - store bought, and a single blueberry. Skimping again. I then noticed a strong after taste of grapefruit but artificial that stayed with me all afternoon despite a few cups of hot tea I brewed myself. What truly made me write this review was the final straw of the meal. The Tart was served with the spoon on the saucer holding the tin. Never serve cutlery on the dishes. (I have gotten soup served with the spoon in before.) But the worst faux pas was that the spoon was so sticky, it stuck to my hand. I had to leave my seat and hunt down a waitress who took my spoon and, I think, washed it because she returned it to me saying "Sorry about that" while drying it off. Maybe The Drop can buy a few more dishes and spoons when it buys a water pitcher.

Super cute, incredibly kind and friendly staff, comfy seating and a great playlist. They also have a phenomenal happy hour (and reverse happy hour later at night), so if you're in the "Martini Corner" location this is a great option. I enjoy the idea of the "cocktail of the moment" and playing on that theme, plus they had some seriously interesting cocktails. I especially enjoyed the KC Sour, made with local Dark Horse bourbon and fresh citrus.

Totally let down they don't do the drops anymore. It's the name of the bar! I ordered a mango cocktail and the female bartender spilled the drink when she was serving it. She also didn't rinse out the tin so the drink tasted like cucumber. She also spent all her time talking about drama with her friend at the bar. I won't be back

  • Gina G.

My first time here- I wouldn't come back at lunch time but maybe some other time when I'm not on a schedule. The poor bartender was waiting on the entire restaurant (which wasn't that busy) but could be overwhelming for 1 person. He didn't write our order down and 3/4 meals came out wrong and we never got the appetizer we ordered. When I went to the bar after being there for 35 mins asking to cancel the app and for our food to come in to go containers he went back and got the food. Not a great first experience but I've heard good things so maybe the server called in sick or it's just not a lunch place.

My wife and I came here for lunch during restaurant week and we were less than impressed. The menu sounded good and we hadn't ever been here so we decided to give it a shot. First walk in and stand for a minute or two before they tell us to sit anywhere. Pick a table, and we order. She tells us they are out of the bread pudding. She then tells my wife that she has heard complaints that the shrimp is bland and she tasted it and agrees... Okay. So rather than fix the dish that is bland they just tell people not to order it. Strange. And then the waiting starts. We wait about 30 minutes for our apps. My lamb slider is decent and she enjoyed her bruschetta. Then another 30 min later our entrees come out. But...what about the salad we ordered? They said they got mixed up and would bring the salad out. My short ribs are pretty good, maybe a touch under under-seasoned. The wife's chicken piccata was a bit dry, and I didn't like the sauce. Finally the salads come out. They are okay. Not a huge fan of the dressing. They did give us a $10 gift card for the issue of the salads but all in all we are leaving unimpressed.

I ordered a Cosmo at what is supposed to be martini alley and they had ran out of cranberry juice. They said they would fix that no problem. 15 minutes later (not offering me something else) I received the worst, most watered down Cosmo ever. I ordered lamb sliders and spinach dip. Sliders were good but only got 2 small ones for $9. The spinach dip came out cold so I sent it back and they reheated it in the microwave as I could here the conversation and the 'ding'. Would not recommend this and would not go back. Oh and I forgot to mention there were only 6 people in here over the course of my hour lunch and many more than 6 fruit flies .

We stopped in on a quiet night at the Drop after a loud and crowded time at First Friday in the Crossroads. We were hungry, but not sure what we wanted. The Drop's menu of Bites and Shareables was perfect for us. Our waiter was helpful with suggestions on what was particularly good, too. We shared the lamb sliders and they were really tasty. We also shared shrimp and beef kebobs. They were served with brussel sprout risotto. Delicious. But my favorite part was the edible cocktails. We had 6. Started with the lime and ended with the chocolate almond. Loved them and now I want to learn how to make them. Really fun and really, really good. Thanks for being the perfect place for our late night dinner!

Two Words: Happy. Hour. The drink menu is affordable (they have 1/2 price wine night I believe Mondays), the Happy Hour Menu is pretty legit and it's not ever overly crowded. I think people forget that they have Happy Hour here... so you can always get a table. I like the stuffed mushrooms, crabcakes, beef carpaccio and hummus. I've tried a few different martinis and even though I'm not a martini girl, theirs are yummy and help take the edge off of a bad day... If you can find a good parking spot at Martini Corner, it's a nice place to pop your head into.

Atmosphere was nice. The drop was clean and quiet. Some friends and I went for dinner during restaurant week. It looks like it could be a fun lounge to go for drinks nut wouldnt go back for food. That's is the most positive feedback I can personal give. When we walked in we were the only people there. We were seated quickly. It was very cold in there the whole meal. 3 out of 4 of us order off the restaurant week menu. The 3 of us all agreed the lamb sliders were good but the sauce needed more dill/ cucumber. The bistro salad was decent. The dressing comes on the side. Wasnt my favorite of dressing but ok. 2 of us got the short ribs. It was not what I expected. I thought it would be actual short ribs with the bone in and glaze....it was pot roast, mash potatoes, carrots, and gravey. It was very under seasoned. The other entree ordered was the chicken piccata. The chicken was very dry and the sauce was under seasoned. The fourth person ordered on the traditional menu and got the flat bread. I tried a bite and was not impressed. It took a very long time to get our checks. None of us finished our meals. It wasn't the worst thing I had but not what was expected. Over priced for what I got.

I've visited The Drop on several trips to Kansas City throughout 2012 and I loved this little bar! I recently moved to the city plus there's a Groupon out for one sharable plate, 2 entrees, and 2 signature cocktails. Winning! I made reservations through Open Table for 7pm. Parking was easy and we walked easily into the restaurant. There were a few occupied tables, but not overly busy. A gentlemen behind the bar stated, "sit wherever you'd like." I stated we had reservations, and he brought us over to the bar. The gentleman asked," Well is this alright? This is what we reserved for you." He brought us to a high top table within the bar area. Not quite what I was expecting seeing how there's a separate room with booths and low top tables. We were immediately greeted by a woman who introduced herself as the bartender. She let us know she's busy but would make an effort to give us the attention we needed as a table. I assumed she was new but the comment seemed, well, odd. She was nice and she did give us the right amount of attention any table would need, but I couldn't help but think she didn't really know what she was doing. I told her right off the bat that we had a Groupon and she asked to see the voucher. I pulled it up on my phone. As I mentioned above the Groupon was valid for one sharable plate, 2 entrees, and 2 signature cocktails. She marked it as redeemed and said,"okay well this is good for one sharable plate and 2 drinks." I asked about the entrees and she argued back that they indeed were not included and since she had marked the Groupon redeemed she had therefore made it worth nothing from there on out. Confused she picked up my phone and walked away. As she's walking away with my phone she yells across the bar, "We can probably work something out." Is this socially acceptable and I'm just behind on the times because I was rather displeased with my phone being taken away. All in all the Groupon was indeed valid for what it said and really our waitress was just unknowledgeable. Onto everyone's favorite part of the evening....the food! We ordered the hummus 3 ways and two Mango Martinis. The hummus is described as bacon hummus, fusion, and roasted garlic. The roasted garlic was alright but all three were incredibly dry and lacked flavor. I can walk to the grocery store and buy better hummus out of the container than what we received. The drinks were also okay. Keep in mind our waitress was also the bartender so we took her suggestion on choice of drinks. The Bacardi was overpowering and did not fuse well with the Mango. Onto dinner. For a menu selection that's rather large and full of different appetizers I was surprised to see that there's only 6 dinner options. If I'm at a restaurant with only 6 entrée options I would expect a unique array of options, but nothing really appealed or got me excited shaking in my boots! 2 of the 6 options were even sandwiches. I ordered the spinach and prosciutto stuffed chicken and my other half ordered the two bone pork chop. She came back a few minutes later because the restaurant was out of chicken. Surprising seeing how it wasn't busy, but I've worked in the business long enough to understand that these things happen. I changed my order to the beef medallions. Our meal came out in a timely manner. Upon arrival of the food the waitress stated that the kitchen was also ran out of risotto while putting together the pork chop plate so they added a little something extra to it. A little something extra? What does that even mean? Both his pork chop and my beef were quite dry and lacked any flavor. I never desire salt or pepper at a table, but embarrassingly enough this restaurant needs it in a bad way! Now I'm a firm believer in trying to at incorporate a little positivity into everything so the positive notes about The Drop Free WiFi Happy Hour specials A nice porch area that looks out onto Martini Corner Overall, I am very disappointed to see where the new management has taken the restaurant. I feel bad giving this place 2 stars but unfortunately this is what it has become.

Crab cake Benedict for brunch! It was really good --- the portion was quite small. What does this mean? This means you order more! haha! Tastewise, it was flavorful and not too doughy or fishy. I got the asparagus for my side and it was nothing special or fancy at all. I mean, it wasn't cooked and drizzled with gold or anything. Just the normal cooked asparagus is all. I should've tried the polenta instead. After seeing all the varieties of dishes the girls got I'm definitely going to have to stop by again to try it out. Some of the girls gave mixed responses on the french toast but i'd like to make my own judgement just in case i miss out on a dish that could potentially be my favorite (although i do make a killer french toast).

Went here for brunch the other day and it was wonderful. Great mimosa with a great size too. Most mimosas are way too small. My wife had a Bloody Mary it was ok, you might like it if you like spicy Bloody Mary's. The cinnamon roll was uniquely done and very enjoyable. The biscuits and gravy were awesome and a great portion. I have also been here on occasion for nighttime drinks and snacks. They're bruschetta choices are amazing. It's been awhile so I can't recall which ones we got but I remember really liking them. It's a little pricy on drinks though.

Visit three: Went here during Cinco de Mayo (also known as Cinco de Drinko!) as Sol Cantina across the street was ridiculously packed. Same bartender was working there as before but we couldn't sit at the bar since it was so crowded in there. Ended up sitting in the backroom away from the action and ordered the lychee martini. Yes that's four drinks down on their specialty menu! My friend was happy that they serve the O' Fallon Smoked Porter. We first learned about the beer thanks to the awesome bartender at Waldo Pizza. I saw that they also serve the Xingu Black Beer from Brazil (another one of my favorites), and made him try it. Good thing he liked it! Nothing crazy happened to us that night but we sure had fun watching drunk people make a fool of themselves!

I came here thinking I'd update my review but it turns out I somehow managed to never review this place, despite having been so many times. Let's get one thing straight - - I LOVE Martini Corner. And I loved The Drop when it was under the old management. The new management has made some improvements, but they've also made some changes that just don't work right now. As someone who works from home, sometimes I like to work less during the day and then find a bar to do work in at night while enjoying dinner and drinks. So I love the fact the The Drop has free wifi, and that I don't feel out of place or rude if I pull out my laptop. The new management brought in some great new food choices, with a wide variety of options. Something for every taste and/or dietary restriction! (Pro tip: grab a friend and split the Bruschetta. So many delicious options, and you get to try 4 of them with 1 order!) The food is definitely the biggest plus that's come from the new management. I've never been disappointed. The decor has changes slightly as well. It's a little brighter and "warmer" looking. Think warm golds that re[paced the cool greys. Aesthetically speaking, I preferred the old look, but it's just personal preference. It still looks fine. The atmosphere feels a little more 'open' and inviting perhaps. Speaking of atmosphere, since the new ownership has taken over, it hasn't really been consistent. Some nights it's been low key and relaxed (which is perfect for crotchety twenty-somethings like myself who are getting tired of loud obnoxious bars) but other nights there have been big boisterous groups. Maybe with the changes, this place is still trying to find it's niche. The selection of drinks has always been decent. Never some place I would lump in with the "best drinks in town", but still pretty good. The past two times I've been there, though, a bunch of the cocktails have been new, and of all the ones I tried, not a single one wowed me. Two in particular stood out as big let downs, and those were the Campfire Cocktail and Fall in Your Mouth. They just lacked any balance and the flavors lacked purpose. Kind of like "oh, this is a fall themed drink, so let's throw in some nutmeg, even though it doesn't go with any of the other ingredients." Maybe they're still working out some kinks with the drink menu, but even then, the drinks are WAY OVERPRICED. This just really turned me off from this place, which is why I saved this point for last. The last time I was there with my boyfriend, I looked down at the menu and noticed the price. (Yes, I'll admit, he usually pays for my drinks, so I had never noticed the price increase after the new management until November.) But even if I ignore the cocktails I had that were just plain not good, their good ones are NOT worth $11. It's not that I'm cheap, (Heck, I'll even pay $5 for a milkshake!) but if I'm going to pay $11 for a drink, then I'll just head on up Main St and go to Manifesto instead because they actually know how to make a good cocktail. I was almost insulted by the price. I teetered back and forth between 2 or 3 stars. Because while the food really is good, everything else has lately been kind of 'meh' to me. But in the end, it got a third start just for being in the Martini Corner district. With MC being sort of in limbo right now since Velvet Dog and Empire Room being temporarily closed, the other bars need to pull some extra weight. It's great that The Drop has good food options, but that's going to bring a lunch and dinner crowd, it's not going to attract nightlife to MC. And overpriced drinks aren't going to bring anyone in either. I get what the new owners are trying to do by "classing up the joint" but right now that's not what MC needs.

After 3 1/2 years, I think it's time I revisited my review of The Drop. I like it well enough, but it's certainly lost some of its luster. First things first, the video jukebox. I still LOVE the concept, but the execution has most definitely fallen off. The price is now MUCH higher, something like a buck a song. Ridiculous, I tell you. That price is a bit too steep for watching ironically awesome videos. Seeing as this jukebox is central to the bar's identity, the price gouging leaves a particularly bad taste in my mouth. While I can't say that I know much of the wait staff, the bartenders are awesome. They are funny, personable, and make a great drink. It seems that at The Drop the bartenders are sort of de facto managers, and they excel at both taking care of the bar and watching to make sure no shenanigans occur on the floor. These people are pros. I'm a bit over their martini list, but that's my taste that has changed, not them. If you like sweet, fruity concoctions served in a martini glass, this place is for you. However, over the years The Drop's bartenders have developed some pretty great specialty cocktails. It's cool that the managerment give them the opportunity to do so. I recommend the spicy tequila drink, I believe called the Firecracker. I believe that the food is significantly less adventurous than it was before. I can't comment on it much, but nothing on their menu excites me like it once did. I'd like to see them step up. The Drop is fine. But "fine" doesn't really merit 5 stars. I'll go with friends, and I'll certainly have a good time. The Drop was once upon a time one of my main haunts. Today, I rarely go out of my way to visit.

We came in with our Mystery Date groupon and found a worker since I had made a reservation on open table and wanted to make sure they checked me off so that I'd get my points. The man kind of blew me off and said he'd get me (didn't ask my name-so I volunteered it). Checked this morning, he didn't check me off, so now, I don't get credit for going there. Thanks a lot dude :( Anyway, other than that, the food was alright. The hummus was kinda bland actually. We had the plate of three, sun-dried tomato, bacon, and original. I personally misread the menu and thought I was getting grown up mac and cheese with ham, and didn't realize it was just a ham and cheese sandwich until it came out. This was my fault, so I can't take that away from them, but I was pretty disappointed nonetheless. The tomato basil soup was awesome, the potato mix was alright, and the ham and cheese sandwich, well...my husband took mine to lunch with him today. The beer I had was different than I'd ever tried before, so that's impressive since I don't find that ability most places. The waitress/bartender was very nice and friendly as well. Our waters sat empty longer than I'd like, but we also drink water like camels, so we've come to expect that from most places. I think if I was to come back it would be for happy hour or brunch, but I'll probably pass on dinner

Our most recent visit to The Drop felt like a strange dream. Everything was just a little... "off." I used to LOVE this place. My favorite guilty-pleasure dinner was a board of their bruschetta and a martini or three. I would find myself craving the lightly-toasted Farm to Market ciabatta, heaped with paper-thin beef carpaccio and caperberries the size of grapes. Last night, I plopped down in a wobbly barstool in anticipation of the familiar sights, sounds, flavors and textures of a favorite haunt... And was sorely disappointed. The first thing I noticed was the terrible pop music. Before I could say Justin Timber...... My eyes darted to the wall. No more flatscreen. No more video jukebox! Still, the menu was the same. There were my old favorites, right where they belonged. So I ordered my usual, a red wine martini, a Dirty Drop for the hubs, and my tried-and-true assortment of bruschetta: smoked salmon, prosciutto and romesco with roasted garlic, tomato with pesto and smoked mozzarella, and the beloved beef carpaccio. The drinks arrived; they looked just as expected, but with one sip we each had a puzzled look on our face. Both were... sort of the same, but not quite right. This was becoming a rather surreal experience. My red wine martini was much sweeter than I'd remembered. We traded drinks, both needing a second opinion. The Dirty Drop lacked that saline spike that I remembered. My husband mentioned that the red wine martini tasted like rubbing alcohol... Perhaps they had switched to a different (cheaper) wine? Then came the bruschetta, and I was sure that something had gone terribly awry. The plating was sloppy. The salmon and beef had been hacked into misshapen shards. The fat gooseberry-like caperberries had been replaced with tiny nonpareils. The "smoked" mozzarella was suspiciously white. One bite confirmed the worst of my fears... This was an imposter! The salmon preparation had an unpleasant cinnamon-y component to it, like an everything bagel that rubbed up against the cinnamon bagels in a mixed dozen. Even the bread was a sad shadow of its former self. It was over-toasted on a grill pan or panini press to brand it with a deep set of fake grill marks, and had taken on quite a bit of oil. The rubbery, chewy texture and intense toasting led me to believe that it may have been less than fresh. Upon further research, I discovered that the original owner and chef are no longer involved with The Drop. I find it disingenuous that they are operating under the same name and trying to pass it off as the same menu. My husband and I are adding it to the list of things to mourn in Kansas City, along with the Tarantino's calzone and the R Bar.

This is a fine bar (though I've never tried the food). I like the feel of it - it's comfortable, quaint, and quiet. The patio can get loud and hot, but I am generally not a fan of patios. The staff here seem to be very friendly, but can also be very overworked. My recent experience was on the patio. It took 10-15 minutes to get helped because our server seemed to have the entire patio on a busy Saturday evening...not fair to her, and not fair to us as a result. We had a larger group, and every single order took 10 minutes to arrive, and in some cases didn't arrive at all without a reminder to the server. The prices seem high here. The martinis are good, but not great, and for $9 in Kansas City, they need to be great. My lychee martini was awesome in that it's hard to find anything lychee flavored around KC, but beyond that it just wasn't worth $9. The drops themselves are ok...we had chocolate banana (which tasted like neither), raspberry (which was tasty but had a little too strong on an alcohol taste for me...but my fiance loved it) and mint julep (which I loved, but my fiance absolutely hated). For the price, I don't need to get the drops ever again...but I had to try. So, we had a martini, 6 drops, and three or four beers (don't remember), plus 20% gratuity due to our group size, and it was $49. Way too high for me. Prices alone will likely keep me from coming here much. I can get just about the same product elsewhere with better service and lower prices. Plus, Martini Corner just isn't my thing.

I absolutely love this place!!!! Every single time I come here I am always treated well and I love the food. This is my favorite place to bring my family when they come to town. I love sitting down with some friends and having some martinis and chowing down on the bruschetta. I have noticed that the place has gone through some changes over the last two years. There was a little rough spot there several months ago, but it's definitely back on track. I love all of the changes they have made and the staff is always super friendly. It is strange that one night it's empty and the next it's packed, but maybe it's because the weather can't decide what it wants to do. I definitely recommend this place. I love it. I will always and forever be a faithful customer!

The edible drops (alcoholic jell-o bites) are worth trying once. This plate was $15: yelp.com/biz_photos/the-… They are OK, but only marginally better than regular jell-o shots. The amaretto and raspberry were the best. The mojito didn't have any flavor.

I was recently in KC for a family event and went to The Drop last minute with a group of friends and relatives. We had fantastic cocktails and shared several of their appetizers. The crab cakes were delicious! The staff was very helpful, I have several food allergies and they made sure to check on everything I inquired about and made some helpful suggestions. I was really pleased to see some of the changes that have been made. The manager (who was also very helpful and available), came by several times to check on us and made sure we enjoyed ourselves. I'll absolutely be going back!

i came here for Happy Hour to celebrate a friend's birthday AND I had a Groupon. Holy cheap eats & drinks! I had been here for a Yelp Elite event and was looking forward to going back to try the drinks and small plates. During HH, the specialty drinks are $5.50. i started off with the Asian Pear (fresh pear, vodka, moscato) and my friend had the Bellini Martini (white peach puree, vodka, bubbles). Both were excellent. For our second round, i had the Tres Mangos and my friend has the Red Wine Martini. I thought my mango martini would be too sweet but it was very refresing. The Red Wine Martini was not my favorite, but my friend loved it. There are some HH cheap eats, but we opted for the mussels and the steak kabob. The mussels were good - I've had better but these were fine. The steak kabob had thick cuts of tender meat that were cooked medium and were nicely seasoned. I think next time I would trade the mussels for the breschetta. The service was fine. The kitchen was kind of slow, but nothing to irritate me too badly. There was one waitress for the whole place. She was running like crazy. I asked her what was up and she said someone called in sick. That could have been a disaster, but she was very efficient. I saw a manager or owner there just chit-chatting with some patrons. Seems like he could have given her some help. Just a thought. Would I come back? Absolutely. Plus, I totally forgot to order any of the solid "drops". What was wrong with me? I will definitely be back to try a few of those.

I came here with my husband and my parents. (My folks are seasoned patrons of The Drop, so we were bound to order well.) Drinks: The Firecracker cocktail was my lucky selection: chile-infused tequila, some sort of lemon oil, and ginger beer...definitely had a spicy kick. My dad and my husband both went for the KC Sour, which was underwhelming in my opinion. Food: I can only speak for the bruschetta, all of which were great, but I particularly loved the prosciutto, garlic and Romiesco sauce. Coming here on a Saturday night, prices were a touch high, but this place is hip and delish...so it's well worth it. (Also, my parents paid.) It's definitely a place I'd come back to treat myself to...and I'd have bought the Groupon mentioned in other posts in a heartbeat.

The Drop was a somewhat small restaurant with interesting presentations of their food but more importantly, their Mojito drops. My coworker a few months ago told me that I should check this place out because she knew (as well as my whole team) I take pictures of food. I finally got to try this place out because Lilian O. and Ankur B. were back in town but not for long (boo!). The parking around this was super limited but luckily I found one right next to the outside seating area. I ordered the Lemon Thyme Chicken ($16) and 3 Mojito drops ($13). The three flavors I chose were Cherry Cheesecake, Sour Grape, and Cotton Candy. The flavors of the Mojito drops change all the time so I can't say if those would be available on another visit. The other flavor was Tequila Sunrise which was tempting to order. The staff here was really nice and came out to the outside seating area to check up on our table as well as the three or four other tables. My Mojito drops came out first. I have to say the presentation was interesting. The Sour Grape Mojito drop was pretty good while the Cotton Candy and Cherry Cheesecake Mojito drops didn't taste like their names to me. Lilian said they tasted like it but I guess my taste buds weren't working properly. All I knew was I could taste more of the alcohol with the Cotton Candy and Cherry Cheesecake Mojito drops. The Lemon Thyme Chicken was delicious and portion was just right for me. The chicken was a little bit dry but the other stuff like the wild mushroom risotto, parmesan crisp, and garden-fresh green beans all compensated for it. I recommend it if you want something that will fill you up but not food coma full. Nice place for drinks, interesting presentations of food and Mojito drops.

I love the Drop with their upscale Urban Retro decor and seriously interesting food. no matter what they make, whether is Croque Madame or Crab cake Benedict they maximize flavor at every turn. Like making a white truffle honey Hollandaise sauce to elevate the crab Benedict. Never too much, but always enough to make your eyes roll to the back of your head! And, Oh! By the way, thats a good thing. the food is not even remotely the only thing they do extraordinarily well! the Drop makes killer cocktails too! try the Firecracker, with chili infused Tequilla, that will most certainly light up your night. bold and innovative is their style and forte. how about the humble jello shot? consumed by College students everywhere....at The Drop they become beautiful works of art that melt their signature cocktail flavors in your mouth. Reservations are easy to make on Open table, from their Yelp site. Chic atmosphere, fabulous food, designer cocktails. Do yourself, and your date a favor...run amuck! At The Drop.

Awful! I've been there many times and have really enjoyed myself. I've met friends their colleagues had business meetings and always had very good success. Tonight some young boy had no idea how to wait tables I've flagged him down wave my arms and had my napkins going in a circle. I family had to get up and have him on the shoulder as he was conversing with the bartender as they watched a Basketball game. Paragraph I told him to give me food he came by and leaving on the table and said what do you want I told him he said we're out of it over and over again I finally got to order something since somebody else to deliver the food sent another person to deliver the check never going back never never

We went on a lark and also with a Groupon rather lateish on a week night. The bars across the street were more crowded and noisy but it was great at The Drop. The patio was lovely and there were a couple more tables occupied at the time we were there. Great waiter, just the right combination of personable and not intrusive. The menu looked good and we both found something we really wanted. My friend had an Italian sandwich and I had the Bruschetta board. The menu descriptions were enticing but really, the food itself was exquisite...and that is a word I rarely use. The bread on the sandwich was lovely, the meats and cheeses of the highest caliber. The pickles! house made and I wish they sold them in bulk, sweet, sour, salty and the best pickles I've ever eaten, really. The bruschetta board was a very nice selection that I chose from the menu, gouda with tomato, thai chicken with peanut sauce, smoked salmon with some very lovely pickled onion slivers and capers, smoked meats and cheese. Sad to read that others had differing opinions but we'll be going back.

I always come here to drink... really ahaha im picking up a bad hobby lol Came here two nights ago got a henricks and tonic... cant go wrong with that. However, Kate got this cucumber melon (which I hightly advise not to get) and it tasted "like a rainforest in my mouth" and " freshly mowed grass" However, to me it taste like sugar water with mint. She ended up getting the asian pear... that was better. Then again I don't really drink sweet cocktails. Maybe next time ill try their cocktails and make another review. But for now 3 stars for the martini

I've been for lunch and happy hour. Both have been okay, but not fantastic. Most recently went and had the Tres mango martini and the hummus. The drink was very sweet - looked a little like Sunndy D in a fancy glass. It was fine for a HH special of $5. (Next time I'll stick with beer.) The patio/deck area is great for a little fresh air! Inside has a little more formal feel. For a snack, I also got the most bland hummus I've ever had. The server mentioned after the fact that she agreed with us - not veryhelpful on the front end, but whatever... Speaking of the service, she was quite the character - a little frazzled, a little distracted, a little unclear about what she was supposed to do(take our order, bring our food, bring the check), but she was at least friendly. it's super close to work, so I'm sure I'll go back. I will either just lower my expectations or order things ready made.

To keep it short and simple - a casual, comfortable feel with a touch of class, great food that's not too hard on the wallet, and $7 Bulleit Rye on the rocks. Every time I come, I leave a happy man. Would definitely recommend.

GF had a groupon for The Drop so we checked it out last night. It was very good. It allowed for 2 specialty drinks, 2 starters and 2 small plates. I had The Dirty drop which was very good. If you like green olives, this is the drink for you! We ordered the meat and cheese plate and the shrimp ceviche. I forgot that it had peppers in it so my gf couldn't have any but it was delicious. The meat and cheese tray was a very large serving. It was wonderful. For the small plates we had the salmon with asparagus and also the stuffed mushroom caps. They were both wonderful. I believe the mushroom caps had a goat cheese which we both really enjoy. I was glad we arrived early because the place was packed by the time we left. There was parking to the side of the building in a lot that looks like it was shared by other businesses. We didn't have a problem finding parking but like I said, we arrived a little after 4. Our waitress was wonderful. She never gave her name but she was very helpful and very attentive. It was a great experience and we will be back again.

I used to love the Drop. We went last night for date night and were terribly disappointed. The menu has changed, no more bruschetta and the hummus was extremely dry. I wondered if it had been made and left out for a few days. The drinks were decent but the bar service was lazy and sloppy. I felt like I was interrupting the bartender's conversation. Excuse me for trying to give you my money. I will not be returning. Liz, we miss you!!

Another Groupon deal led me to try The Drop for brunch this Saturday. It was a good deal and not to be passed up. It gave us drinks for two (mimosa or Bloody Mary), a cinnamon roll, and two entree for $20. The Bloody Mary was good, but not super spicy. The Crabcake Benedict was very good - I ordered mine without the prosciutto. The egg was well poached, not overly runny. This is served without the usual English Muffin, so it was a light breakfast, especially when I chose grilled asparagus as my side (you could also get breakfast potatoes and polenta, among other choices). But the white truffle hollandaise was divine. The crab cake has good crab flavor, but no texture to it. The cinnamon roll was good. It's hard to screw up a cinnamon roll, but it was a little over firm. BF had the biscuits and gravy and quite enjoyed them. Our waitress was great. We ordered one additional Bloody Mary and were going to split it. she made us two small ones. I'm axious to go back and try their bruschetta, as it looked impressive and they a zillion choices.

Great happy hour! We go for dinner sometimes and just eat off the happy hour menu - plenty of food for a really good price. Not the greatest brunch, but for the price you really can't beat it. If you like crab cakes, get them for happy hour instead of the crab cake benedict on their brunch menu, it's much better! However, brunch was redeemed by their amazing cinnamon rolls.

It is with a heavy heart that I need to retract my first review of The Drop. Towards the end of 2012, the original owner left and along with him went the unique music video jukebox, the wonderfully crafted cocktails and most unfortunately so, the attentive and classy service. There is a silver lining and that is Tom the bartender! Tom and the Wednesday pub quiz is the last thread that I am grasping on to, but even that can't work its miracle 100% of the time. Let me get to specifics. I visit The Drop religiously once a week, on Wednesday night for trivia. We've been doing so for almost an entire year. What I used to love about it was its uniqueness and friendliness, especially with the bar staff. Under new management, the awesome goblet chandelier was moved to the annex, the video jukebox televisions were stripped from the walls and the decor changed from being sleek to a rip-off of a Pier 1 imports catalogue. I was able to deal with the scenery change as long as the service and the drinks/food stayed the same but as weeks progressed, I noticed a change in the wait staff. Not just the actual people involved but the way they treated their guests. On one occasion, we did not receive menus, silverware, a glance or let alone glasses of water but I did manage to see our waitress doing shots behind the bar with the owner. Classy. On a different visit, the waitress just stopped coming by until she threw the check on our table, while briskly passing us to go text behind the bar. But I think what prompted me to write this review was this weekend's most recent visit. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer during happy hour. There were three waitresses working the room, none of which asked us if we needed anything or to clear our table after having empty cocktail glasses and plates. Twenty minutes later, I walked up to the bar to ask for more drinks, the gentleman behind the bar was rude and when I told him we had been waiting and saw no sign of our waitress (she was texting at the bar and also managed to walk by our table multiple times), he gruffly asked what we wanted and he could get it for us. I told him the drinks were enough for now but if he could tell the waitress to swing by so we can finish ordering our meal. He sent her over, only after two more waitresses were at our table talking amongst themselves changing out our candle (how many girls they need to do this?!), neither of them asking if we needed anything nor to clear things off our table. FINALLY our waitress came by, only to say she'd be right back with the check. Why would you assume we were ready for the check when we asked you to come by so we can finish our order? So. Frustrating. We told her to just please bring us the check because we were leaving. She then said, "I know you guys are regulars, I'm sorry." You have a really funny way of showing us that you know that. Just such a horrible experience. Such a let down after so many great weeks of service and good times. At least they haven't changed out the menu and the quality of the food has remained fairly consistent. I still stand behind that chicken pesto pizza and the mango martini. Actually, anything Tom makes will wash away the bad taste in your mouth left from the incompetent waitresses. During trivia, Tom participates which is always a lot of fun...when a different bartender is there, or even the owner, they are loud, rude and talk over the event that is happening. Not a very good way to show support to an event you're holding at your space, amirite? I would also like to add that Martini Corner was especially busy that night and we had to park two blocks away (no big deal though). However, when we got to The Drop, it was pretty sparse. Take from that what you will.

Majorly disappointed. Not sure what has happened with this restaurant but apparently they don't know how to make their edible cocktails any more. We waited a bit over 2 hours for them to "set" and what we received were watery jello shots. Literally in the shape of the Dixie cup. They said the manager made 4 flavors we received 2. I will give credit where credit is due. They gave us a free round of drinks during the last half hour of our wait and they did not charge us for the jello shots. However, word to the wise: if you are going to go to The Drop to experience their namesake edible cocktails, then I would suggest calling ahead and asking if the manager (the only person who knows how to make them) is in and if they had already made the Drops. Do not assume that they have them. In fact if I were the Drop I would go ahead and take them off your menu. If only one person knows how to make them and if that person is sending out Jello shots and not what we all knew to be your drop edible cocktail then take it off your menu.

Amazing! Bottomless brunch, order food & all drinks are free. Food is great, I recommend the croque Madame. Yummy Bloody Mary, and red beer. Great place!

Let's see, I've reported about The Drop's cocktails, their patio and most recently, their food. I figured it was high time to hit up that happy hour everyone's been going on about. It's no secret to locals that KC has one of the best Happy Hour scenes in the country. I've been to a lot of cities and not many can compare with these deals. I mean, so many HHs span as much as half a day and many places also do a reverse HH at a reasonable hour like 10pm. For real! So check it: The Drop offers an early HH 3-7 Monday-Friday *and* a reverse HH from 10-close Sunday-Thursday. That. Is. SICK!!!!! If by sick, I mean utterly fabulous. Although their list of $5 specialty cocktails was tempting, I wasn't in the mood for the hard stuff and opted for a pinot noir instead (also $5). There's a respectable list of small plates at 1/2 price, too. A word to the wise on these "small" plates: they be HUGE plates! My entire table was covered with giant slabs of wood with piles of meat and cheese or hummus on them. I felt almost like I was at some kind of Medieval banquet instead of a hip little lounge on Martini Corner. The HH scene is lively and boys, if you're into girls, you should know they kind of dominate the place at this time (at least the last two times I came during these hours). I love this place to the very last... Drop!

On my first trip, I enjoyed edible cocktails and bruschetta. Sadly they were out of the mojito edibles but the amaretto, lemon drop, and port wine and hazelnut were very tasty. They do a great job with the texture of the edible cocktails with more substance than regular jello shots. It's just like eating your shots since each one contains about an ounce of alcohol. Greatly enjoyed the unique combinations of bruschetta with my favorite being the goat cheese, cranberry compote and brown butter. The selection of 4 ($15) is plenty large to share. Recently returned to The Drop for happy hour and enjoyed tasty food and drinks again. The happy hour is pretty amazing with $5.50 cocktails, $5 wine and $2.50 wells everyone can find something they'll like. I enjoyed good red wine but the cocktails looked good. Friends commented that the Cherry Limeade was a bit too cherry, not enough lime and the Grape martini was VERY tart...but the Tres Mangos and the Lychee martinis were greatly enjoyed. The happy hour food was tasty and in large portions. The meat and cheese tray ($6.50) came with four different cheeses and 3 salamis. The fusion hummus ($4) is huge and the siracha on the side is a nice added spice. The atmosphere is laid back, and on a weeknight the happy hour isn't too crowded. Good service, atmosphere and prices keep me coming back to this Union Hill hot spot.

I love the Drop, because it is close to my house and they have an excellent brunch. Definitely go with the potatoes for the side; they are delish! Go with a Groupon if it's available, it can get a bit expensive without one.

Well, after having The Drop on my "places to try" list for years - seriously, years - we finally made it in on Friday for some pre-concert food and drinks. And let me just say before I go any further, it will not be years before my next visit! I am definitely a fan!! We happened to arrive at the tail end of happy hour, so we were able to score some cheap drinks (wine for me, Bud Light for the husband) and some hummus to start us out. The wine was a good pour, the Bud Light was cold, and the hummus was a big portion and quite tasty. I like my food spicy, as in burn my face off spicy, so the addition of Sriracha to the hummus plate was a nice bonus. The hummus was a tiny bit chunky for my taste, but it was good otherwise, and I'd get it again. So after much deliberation, we opted on a couple of items to share, which was a good idea. We got a boneless pork chop that came with some mango apple chutney and mashed potatoes and a selection of bruschetta (Salami, Shrimp, Beef Carpaccio, and Goat cheese and fig). Both items were winners. The pork was tender and flavorful, and every bruschetta option was fantastic. I'd totally order all 4 again, and my husband really enjoyed the 3 options he tasted (he hates goat cheese), with his favorite being the salami. I was expecting that I'd have to cut the bruschetta in order for us to share them, so it was a nice surprise that they came pre-sliced into four smaller pieces. Super easy for sharing! And don't let the "small plate" options fool you - the pork would've made a nice meal on its own. There was nothing really small about that small plate. Service wasn't the quickest, but that was to be expected as it was pretty busy for the tail end of happy hour, and things did pick up once the place cleared out a bit. We sat inside this time around (but right at the window - perfect for people watching!), but I think the Drop will be a great place to soak up the warm weather and enjoy a couple of drinks and some decent food outdoors as well. I'll definitely be back very soon for more of that bruschetta, and might even try some of the infamous "drops" (edible shots) the next time around.

I had brunch here on Sunday and as always it did not disappoint. I got the Italian sausage and chorizo biscuits and gravy and my boyfriend got the fresh berries French toast. The berries are always so fresh that I steal all I can off his plate. The biscuits are a crunchy texture we both LOVE and the poached egg on top is a delicious touch! On evening occasions I love the Caprese, meat and cheese plate and hummus trio. My boyfriend says the KC Dip is one of the best French dip style sandwiches he has ever had. My drink of choice for a night out there is the grape martini! I can't get enough of the war head sugar they line the rim with! One of my guilty pleasures. I will continue to frequent this bistro!

A work friend gave me a muncharoo coupon for this place so there was no way that I wasn't going to try it. I had also heard that it was rather delicious and was willing to give it a try. Not impressed. We went late on a Thursday night, about 9ish. It was incredibly dark in there and the music was awful and loud! We sat ourselves...I'm assuming that's what you do there since no one came around to say anything and the bartender acted like we weren't there. Then maybe 5 minutes later the waitress came over with menu's said a couple things I couldn't hear and then looked at me expecting my drink order.."ummmm, can I get a moment to look it over?" Anyway fast forward, I order a drink with gin and honey, it's amaaaazing. I also get the open faced steak sandwich also really really good! But unfortunately, I can't get over how awful I thought the service was and how incredibly hard it was to walk in the dark and try to talk over the music. Not going back. unless it's free.

The Drop is located in the heart of Kansas City's Martini Corner and is a very laid-back and a very popular place to spend a fantastic Happy Hour. I joined a party of 15 for a CMYE. Speciality cocktails were only $5.50. The Lychee Martini was made with Lychee puree, vanilla, and orange and was remarkably refreshing. The Drop also has a wide selection of appitizers to choose from for Happy Hour. These appitizers aren't some pathetic nibble of crumbs; these appitizers are enormous, heaping plates of mouth-watering food. Myself and a few of the girls surrounding me each ordered a different appitizer so that we could sample some of everything. I had an absolutely fantastic time dining at The Drop and can't wait to go back.

If you're searching for a place to take in a beautiful evening, have a cocktail, and enjoy some nourishment, then look no further. The Drop can offer all these things - all you need bring is a friend or two! A friend of mine was moving, and chose this place to have one final get together before leaving town the next day. (Miss you Lilian O.) This friend has a knack for picking places that I love, and would frequent every day if I could. The Drop was no exception. I started off with a Red Wine Martini, which was good, but not something I would order again. I think I like my wine and martini's separately, but it had depth of flavor and sweetness that is commendable. Then I tried the Bellini Martini, which was amazing. If my soulmate was a drink, this would be it. Real peach paired with champagne (and probably an assortment of other things), expertly mixed...This may be the best drink I've had to date. Since I was a little bit hungry, and had been eyeing the bruschetta, I ordered the following to try: brie with apple, balsamic cream, and candied pecans; smoked salmon with cream cheese and sliced almonds; oven-dried tomatoes, smoked mozzarella and basil pesto; and lastly goat cheese, citrus cranberry compote, browned butter. The smoked salmon was my least favorite - the salmon was good, but the bland cream cheese did nothing to enhance it. Adding some herbs to the cream cheese (dill?) would really add something to this otherwise lackluster dish. Both the brie and tomato/mozzarella bruschetta's were wonderful, and I will definitely be ordering them again on my next visit. The only thing about the bruschetta concept I'm not sold on is that it was awkward to eat. The crust was tough, the bread was thickly sliced, and you practically had to hold the toppings on when you took a bite. Doubtless you've heard about the wonderful little "drops" (aka jello shots/edible cocktails) that the Drop serves. Apparently they change the flavors often. I was able to sample two flavors while there: the Cherry Cheesecake and the Cotton Candy. While I thought that both tasted exactly like the foods they were fashioned after, I was surprised by the strong, harsh aftertaste of alcohol. Yes, I know, an edible cocktail should have some alcohol taste, but this was overpowering. The service was slow. I think it took almost 30 minutes for them to bring my bruschetta. However, it was a beautiful evening, and I was perfectly happy sipping my drink and partaking in conversation. Although I was there for only a short time, I have taken a strong liking to this place. The Drop has a certain appeal for me, and I would love to become a regular here.

The food looked wonderful but it tasted terrible. I order a chartuese martini. It was strong but I highly dislike the taste. I feel like I have a fairly developed pallet. However, this experience was beyond disappointing after reading so many great reviews.

The Drop is honestly the king of happy hours for me. The appetizers and drink specials bring the price down to a reasonable level and allow you to try some of the most creative and great tasting food in KC. The bruschetta is the best thing on the menu. There are many different types to suit anyone's palate and you will not leave unimpressed with any of the entrees available. The only downside to the whole restaurant is the loud and cramped atmosphere due to their high popularity.

So here's the deal. If you have a novelty for which you've been critically acclaimed, and have framed newspaper articles up in your place for, you have to have it well-executed, available all the time, and have your waitstaff pitching it. The Drop became known for "edible cocktails." These variations on the jello shot carried a significant amount of alcohol, but were to be presented in a unique and edible way that also *surprise* tasted good. Half the time I'm at the Drop, they are either "out" of these or the ones they have are terrible. I keep trying them, because I feel so compelled by the idea of edible cocktails, but after my last disappointment, I'm not going back. What's odd is that all of Martini Corner, not just the Drop, is losing its mojo. If anyone has an explanation, would he/she message me please? If I'm going to head out this way for cocktails, make sure that my experience is such that I can't get it anywhere else, otherwise, I'll just do most of my drinking at Grunauer, R Bar, and Manifesto. Sorry, when you have awesome drink venues, you don't have to deal with second-best or "satisfactory" like The Drop.

31st street, I read the address...hmm....questionable. Don't even think it though, just don't drive that route, living outside of Kansas City, I wasn't sure. I had Sara D. with me. We were both hesitant. I finally found it. It;s in a block that I thought was Union Hill, but was told by Katie D it was Martini Row. That makes since. It is cati-corner from the Velvet Dog, across the street from Sol Cantina. I walked in (there were about 15 of us), and it was a CMY event. Inside are tables, brick walls and exposed ceiling with a bar. They have a full happy hour and a full bar menu. They sat us in the back room, on tall tables (sore knee....tall tables....whhyyyy?) but it was all good. I was expecting to be let down with a happy hour as I have in the past few places I'd dined and drank in the last couple of months. Not so with the Drop. With great drink prices and yummy food selections, it was tough to figure out what I wanted. An intriguing food menu with choices like Shrimp Creviche or Fusion Hummus, and drink choices like Adult Cherry Limeade and Chocolate Drop...what to order? I ordered Adult Cherry Limeaide and the Shrimp Creviche. Among other orders were the Yukon Gold Potatoes and Fusion Hummus. None of the selections were boring or over priced. The cherry limeade was fantastic, with no taste of liquor at all. I should've drank a couple. I could've drank 3. They were that good. Really good service, and great menu. Many choices. There is also a full food menu, moderately priced, with interesting selections that invite a second and maybe several visits. Going to have to grab my friends and make a return visit.

It's too bad. Nice, warm atmosphere with exposed brick walls and such. Crab cakes had decent flavor, but were served cold and tepid on the outside (not even crispy). The flatbread was really terrible: frozen, rubbery crust and the cheese wasn't event melted. If it's 8" and round, it's probably a PIZZA and not flatbread. Sadly, the cheese / charcuterie plate was probably the best thing we had. Wine list was very limited. I wouldn't run back, that's for sure.

We went to happy hour here tonight and had a wonderful time. Even though half of the small restaurant was taken up by a baby shower (during happy hour?) the waiters were very nice and attentive. Thankfully there was a two top table near the window and we were able to sit right down. After some recommendations from our waitress we ordered the pear martini and the cucumber mint martini, both were good and at $5.50, a great deal. For food we settled on the hummus ($4.50) and the meat and cheese plate ($6.50). Just about everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious so it was a hard choice! We weren't disappointed although the hummus might have been better paired with something less flavorful than the meats. It was so much food we both left completely stuffed and satisfied having only spent $23 (pre-tip). We will definitely be back. Maybe for Sunday night's couple's 4 course prix fix dinner. It's four courses each and a bottle of wine for $60! That sounds awesome!

In KC for a little get-a-way with my fiancé and saw a groupon available for Sunday brunch....heard good things about the place so figured it was a win-win while we were in town. Unfortunately we came the first weekend the deal was available....so they were busy and unable to handle the traffic adequately. After 10 minutes just waiting in line to be addressed we were told they had a 35 min wait (though empty tables galore....mostly with 'reserved' on them). We finally decided to sit at the bar to wait as we didn't know when we'd be back in town again and were hungry. We were informed we could eat at the bar and jumped at the chance to re-start the experience on a positive note. The brunch menu was very small and lacking (though we were offered anything as well from the regular menu). Settling on the crab benedict and biscuits and gravy we waiting while ordering mimosas and coffee. No milk for the coffee after being told yes, had to ask for silverware, sugar, and for cold sub-par coffee at that. They brought us out a simple cinnamon roll with a small smear of pecan icing on it and here is where I already started wishing we drove back early and I just cooked breakfast. The roll was much ado about nothing and nothing as advertised. The dishes came out and mine looked good at first glance, her biscuits and gravy on the other hand....well I'll just say they have a lot of nerve charging $10 for two split biscuits smothered in 'gravy' that came out. Biscuits were not flaky and the gravy she likened to someone having thrown up over the top. My dish was somewhat better, edible at least, though the potatoes seemed old and overcooked at the point I got them and I suspect the crab was far from fresh. Having purchased what we thought was a good brunch deal on Groupon ($22 for $45 worth of food including 2 drinks, large roll, and 2 entrees) we certainly got what we paid for and that's pushing it, but I wouldn't go back even for that price everyday on the menu let alone the $45. The bartender was nice and accommodating although the place was more busy than usual but we could have gone without the waitress stopping by to complain about the owner and how busy it was again and again. 2 stars because it was at least a cheap mistake, sounds like we missed the boat on the 'heyday' of this place, such a shame.

The love that once was there is nowhere to be found. And $7.75 for a 3 oz. of cheap wine does not win hearts. Stopped in for a relaxing glass. Drank it in 4 sips. In and out of there in 10 minutes. Boring. Expensive. Never again. It was once one of my favorite places to stop in and relax talking to the adorable bar staff. Not so much anymore.

This might be an okay bar to visit for a quick drink, but our party of 8 for dinner and drinks would have been better off somewhere else. We reserved a table a few days before our party, yet we ended up on what can be called nothing other than a porch. Since the windows were made of plastic, it was freezing out there and the space heater did not do the job of warming the space. In addition, smokers were allowed to come into the area and smoke. It's cold outside, therefore the plastic windows are in place instead of screens. The terrible smell of cigarette smoke from 4 smokers filled the room quickly. We asked the waiter if smoking was allowed and he said it was. The service was terrible. The food was mediocre at best. This place should go the way of the Velvet Dog.

Some work ladies and I met here and took part in their decently priced, rather long, happy hour. I had a hefty glass of pinot noir (though I really wanted the cab sav but they were out...despite their being a liquor store right next to The Drop...anyways) and the table ordered a variety of apps. The butcher block was by far my favorite. Seriously, how can you possibly go wrong with meat and cheese on a platter (or nice wood cutting board as the case may be)?? I loved the selection and ate more than my fair share. Other plates included a margarita flatbread (no-go from the a gluten-free perspective), hummus three ways (no-go from a paleo perspective), and then came the bruschetta. Holy wow: first off, they were huge and second off, what a selection! Of course I couldn't eat the bread; which really looked amazingly artisan, crusty, and delicious; but I cheated the system and scraped off the toppings to eat. My favorite was likely the fig, goat cheese, and balsamic. So awesome. A close second was probably the prosciutto. Well done.

I first came to The Drop about 2 years ago for my 21st birthday. While I've only made one return trip to this establishment, the drinks here are phenomenal. On my first trip, my mom, my friend Kristy and I all ordered a different drink; mine being a Cherry Limeade, Kristy ordered one called the Sour Grape, and my mom ordered a Manhattan. We each tried each other's drinks. My mom's I was definitely not a fan of considering I'm a sugary cocktail drinker and not into the "classic" or standard Great American Songbook cocktails. But my drink as well as Kristy's sour grape were out of this world. The sour grape was garnished with crushed grape jolly ranchers on the rim and, no surprise here, tasted just like one (one of my favorite types of candy!). And of course, the Cherry Limeade was exactly that, only on a whole different level. Fantastic! We ordered a couple of their flatbread pizzas and some yukon potatoes to share, all of which were good, however could have gone with some extra seasoning if anything. I was invited to a Yelp! Event about 3 weeks ago where they were letting the invited patrons try a new drink experiment called Mberry that is meant to make your eating and drinking experience completely different. The bartender made some very intriguing new cocktails to try with the fruit pill (it's a freeze-dried fruit crunched together in the shape of a pill) - but I'll be honest here, the drinks were good in their own right! No pill needed! My mom and I both tried the Habanero Passion Fruit cocktails with the Mberry pill, however like I said before, the pill wasn't necessary! The drink was spectacular! A spread of intense sour, bitter, spicy and salty foods were laid out to try with the pill as well, so we snacked as we sipped out delicious cocktails and sat on the patio outside. Overall, The Drop is a good place for Happy Hour if you're in the area and jonesing for a special cocktail. I'll always recommend this bar to someone visiting as well as to someone who might be nearby. But, to be honest though, it's not the kind of place that I'll go out of my way for - but I do live a good 15-20 minute drive away.

I could go on about the service and food here for days (crab cakes! lamb burgers! hummus! omg!), but the drinks are the real selling point here. I'm not keen on cocktails, and am more likely to pour Jack Daniel's directly into my Coke can than actually bother with mixed drinks, but the speciality cocktails here are amazing. I can't recommend the Firecracker enough. It's spicy but also crisp and sweet at the same time. Really, it's a combination of flavors that words just can't do justice.

I'd been to The Drop a year or two ago for a friend's birthday party and remembered it being kind of cool inside, with a upscale vibe and prices to match. Not that kind of place I frequent but I got a gift certificate from Restaurant.com for it a few months ago, and finally used it last night. The Drop is a pretty small restaurant, and when my girlfriend and I went in about 8:30 on a Wednesday, there were three other tables occupied. We skipped the expensive cocktails since we'd been drinking beers at the Velvet Dog across the street for two hours, and moved right to the food menu. It's definitely not a big menu - 5 or 6 apps, 5 or 6 entrees and 5 or 6 flatbread pizzas, plus some salads and 3 desserts. However, the food choices on it looked interesting and different than most restaurants. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer, which were delicious, but at $13 for two, were beyond what I'd normally pay for an appetizer. They came with a spicy mustard that tasted like it had a lot of horseradish in it, a perfect compliment to the crab cakes. For entrees, I ordered a Chorizo flatbread pizza and my girlfriend ordered the pork chop with Yukon gold potatoes. My pizza was decent, though nothing to get excited about. There's far better choices for pizza in this town and it surprised me to get such a plain looking and tasting pizza from a place like this. Being 1/2 their menu for entrees, I expected more from it. My girlfriend's pork chop was pretty good, with a delicious applesauce topping. The potatoes were also good, though the lack of any kind of green vegetable was puzzling to me. The service was average - nothing negative or positive to say. Overall, it was a decent spot but considering we only go out to eat at a place this expensive every 30 days or so, I won't be back anytime soon. There's too many good spots in the $10-20 per entree space in this town to go back to a place you didn't love. However, if friends wanted to go, I'd be fine going back again soon too.

I have been bellying up to this bar for over three years now and count it as one of my favorite bars in Kansas City. A great smaller space with a patio that just continually improves. Last I saw it I believe it had walls for the cold winter months. The staff here is always on their game and makes me feel very welcomed like I'm one of their old friends. The drink list is pretty substantial and the beer selection is fantastic! I have spent many of "non-sober" evenings enjoying the musical stylings of friends and strangers alike during their karaoke. The food is fantastic as well. One of my best friends is a vegetarian and often with us when we frequent this establishment. Our favorites are the hummus and the selection of bruschetta. I personally like to go during the week when it is a bit slower and more of a neighborhood bar instead of part of the club scene. Happy Hour is a big draw too. One of the best in the city. If you ever need a cool joint to impress your friends with for happy hour, take them here. I know I will be going back very soon. Oh, and can not forget the video jukebox, awesome!

So The Drop happened last night. It's on the expensive side, but it's a chic little place on Martini Corner that I'll be returning to [as early as this afternoon when I go back for my car, hah]. It's got a simple modern vibe and I know we came here solely for Katie's obsession with the video jukebox. BUT who doesn't want to watch every single Michael Jackson video? I loved it. It was a happy hour that ended up lasting til the bar closed, but The Drop just provides that good atmosphere where you can kick it with some friends and have the fanciest jello shots of your life--which for us were on the house thanks to the wheeling and dealing of Katie's complaints that the late night DJ cut off her last few MJ songs on the video jukebox. That said, she demanded recompense and we got the fancy jello shots (which they refer to as "edible cocktails", lol). These aren't well advertised, but I would definitely recommend trying them. The Amaretto one is the best.

"Dropped" in for drinks and trivia last night. The booze was tasty and the trivia challenging but fun. I look forward to going back soon.

Another one of my favorite KC places... so sad I am moving!!!! Well, the Drop. I have to say, it's been really great. Any time I have felt the need to be sophisticated, fancy or chic instead of crazy college gal, I just drop in (pun intended, totally), and I feel so much better. Happy hour is (almost) a must. Martinis (which are really the only reason I go to Martini corner...) are only $5 a pop... literally a steal when you consider the $8-9 tab that usually comes your way. It runs from like 4-7, which is totally reasonable in my opinion. The Bellini Martini is A-MA-ZING. Ask the bartender to tell you the ingredients, and (unless they've changed), you will understand why. If you need a EtOH kick, the house Red Wine Martini does the job fantastically. My other rave is this: Sunday nights they offer a $50 PER COUPLE prix fix menu which includes a BOTTLE of wine (yes, you read that correctly), app, salads, either bruscetta (includes 4, which are awesome) or small plate, and desert. One of the best romantic affordable dinners I've had :) Thats about it!

We dropped by on a Sunday afternoon and this place did not disappoint. Good service, great drinks (very generous pours), and good food. You pick 4 bruschetta was great, as was the tremezzo pizza (we added prosciutto). All in all we will be back.

went here on a thursday afternoon around four pm for happy hour. has a nice patio seating area outside. my sister and i sat inside because it was a bit chilly. there is no host so you just stand there for a few minutes until the bartender advises you to take a seat. we did not order much but we did order one drink and one small plate. -asian pear martini (5.50 on happy hour) -baked brie (8 not on happy hour) = 14.09 w/o tip this place is a bit confused. the crowd was an older crowd. there is 90s pop, hip hop music videos playing too loudly. there is abstract art that does not match. the food was mediocre and also took 20-25 mins, the drink was very good though. the server did not give us our bill but decided to take our credit card off of our table. expected better because the reviews were good but it was quite a disappointment.

This place by far, is one of the biggest treats we've had in a while. I had a Groupon and my dining companion and I hopped in the Caddy for the quick zip over to this trendy little joint on 31st Street, east of Gilham. We were meeting tonight to exchange pix from a recent cruise we had all gone on together. The only criticism, I have is that the music is too dang loud! Music can be obvious without blaring and that's what this was doing. Okay, we're past that. Everything else was awesome. Our server was attentive and easily explained everything. The Asian pear martinis were scandalous! My gosh, I could have drank a whole pitcher of them! There were four of us mind you and we ate a little bit of everything until we were full as ticks! Lamburgers, arugula salad with feta, sunflower seeds and mandarin oranges, beef kabob with red pepper, hummus with hot pepper sauce was especially yummy, a big tray full of fat, juicy olives, meat board with chorizo, ham, cheeses, stuffed mushroom caps, fantabulous crab cakes! Excellent, delicious, tongue-tingling, orgasmic! Ya gotta get down here and try out this cute little place! I think this would be too, too kewl for a coctail and snack before a concert of show or like we did with a bunch of friends just to graze on a variety of snacks ... and go away totally satiated and happy to have had such an enjoyable evening with good food, good drinks and good friends. Get down there and git it kidz!

I loved the wine glass chandeleir and the creative martinis! I had a blueberry lemon martini that set me off on a quest to try all martinis on "Martini Corner." I got close- but no cigar. Others in our group tried the Red Wine Martini- yummy- very creative, and then we tried the Bellini Martinis- YUM. The meat and cheese board is almost necessary to soak some of the vodka off your lips and palate, and was quite tasty and quirky. It's a funky martini bar on the right corner!

Here's the deal. I think the Drop is great, and have usually always had a great time there. Their drink menu is top notch, with a wide variety of both beers and martinis to satisfy the girly girl or the manly man. They also have great drink specials, which is always nice. HOWEVER, and this is a big caveat, I will NEVER go to the Drop again without bringing plenty of cash with me. I was recently there celebrating a very special occassion, and the way that they handle their credit card transactions is not for the weak of heart. A friend of mine had 7 pre-authorizations on her account over the course of the weekend, behavior so suspicious that her bank called her to alert her. The explanation from the manager was a little convoluted, and I am not even sure what they are doing is legal. His explanation was that they will preauthorize several different tabs on various cards and then sort it out come the next morning. This is all well and good, but it just seems like there is too much room for error in this system. I have never had to have a pre-authorization for a bar tab in my life, and I have drank a lot. So yes, go there for their excellent drinks, but be leery of keeping a running tab there.

The Drop is a fantastic place for Happy Hour. The happy hour menu has a fantastic shrimp ceviche and hummus. I love the Bruschetta options. One of my favorite Happy Hour destinations.

I have to update my review yet again. Last night I went there to catch up with an old friend and it was just as good as the first time. My only gripe is that they didn't let us use our Groupon during Happy Hour (I don't think this was listed on the Groupon rules, but it wasn't my Groupon so I can't be for sure). The martinis are always good, overpriced, but good. I had the Caramel Apple martini and it was delicious. Don't be fooled by the name, I was scared it was just overpriced Apple Pucker, it wasn't. For our starter we shared the Yukon Gold Potatoes. SO good. I would like to try to make these at home some time. The reason I had to update my review again is because even though they pulled their delicious sandwiches from the dinner menu, they still let us order the Grilled Cheese Panini. It was just as tasty as I remembered, and for that, I am grateful!

I loved the way they treated us here. As soon as we walked in the door a guy came running up to us and asked if we wanted a table. He sit us right next to the window. Another time I couldn't decide what I wanted to drink and the bartender gave us all ice water. It is usually impossible to get water in a bar without a hassle from the bartender. I like the small size, the eclectic crowd and the service. I think it is a great place to start or end the night. This is my favorite place out of all the Martini Corner venues.

I enjoyed the selection of wine and of course the martinis but this is not my favorite place to hang. The space is small and dainty and not at all good for a crowd. The service was just so-so. I recommend coming if you are having a small intimate gathering or a one-on-one encounter, otherwise you will overwhelm the space. The items on the menu include a nice mix of cheeses, meats, fruit and sandwiches. We order everything on the menu and sampled freely. We stayed and chatted for a little while and then headed across the street to Sol Cantina for some real fun. The Drop is a great place to stop by but is by no means my choice for the entire evening. At least not if I'm ready to have fun

I love The Drop so much, I almost don't want to say it - out of fear the place will be too full for me to find a seat next time. The setting is intimate, with hip style that is accented by a fun video jukebox. It feels a bit like walking into one of those cool artsy spots in the Village. You step in, with a sigh, knowing you could stay for hours. (It's stimulating and relaxing). The drinks are clever. Red Wine Martini: enough said. While the food is flavorful, the dessert drops are the best. This place is great for a pre-dinner drink or amazing for after dinner fun. The staff has the rare (nowadays) combo of remembering you, always being wonderful and always sharing the best menu tips.

Had a lovely HH here a few weeks ago sipping on the red wine martini and enjoying the cheese plate and olives. Perfect for after-work gossip with the girls. Next time I'm definitely going to follow Jane's advice and try the creme brulee!

Can't say enough about how good the food is at the drop- I've never had a bad meal here. Also, the atmosphere is incomparable. Great for a first date, unless you are easily distracted by sweet music videos

Just tried this place out for the first time last week with a friend. We walked across the street from Sol Cantina for "Edible Cocktails" night. $20 cover charge got us in the door and access to a bruschetta bar and the infamous "edible cocktails." I wasn't sure what to expect, but basically they were artistically created jello shots - minus the plastic cup, cheap vodka and nasty hangover. They were works of art, really. I tried a mohito edible cocktail, with tiny pieces of fresh mint within the gelatonous rectangle piece. I also tried the lemon drop, the almond amaretto, the coffee and Baileys and rasberry truffle cocktails. They were all delicious. The bruschetta bar was good - prosciutto, olives, goat cheese, hummus and figs. Not a meal but definitely enough to keep you grounded. The place was swanky, very modern and a place to be seen. Everyone was dressed well, and I was impressed with the service and the bartender. I also tried their Asian Pear martini - delicious and the Mango Citrus martini. Those went down very well. I will go back.

Great vibe here. It was a little slow and we were there on a Friday night. The staff was friendly and even laughed with us when we started playing "gangsta rap" for the fun of it on their video jukebox. Not too stuffy which is a super big draw for me!

The Bruschetta is still as good as any you'll find in KC. They have a great beer selection and a nice, short wine list. The staff is friendly and the video juke box is loads of fun. They just opened for lunch recently and the food is always fresh and flavorful...Always look forward to my visits here.

This place is one my wife and I frequent. They have a martini special on Sunday. The bruschetta choices are really amazing. One of my favorites has figs and pine nuts on a goat cheese spread (as near as I can tell). I am typically a little plain in my food choices and would not usually try something like this. I am very glad I did. I really like most everything on the menu. The food is good and the wine selection is good, but the beer choice is amazing. I find it to be a little loud at times. This isn't really a problem, but if you were looking for a quiet and romantic place, it wouldn't really fit the quiet part.

This is one of the best, if not the best lunch in Kansas City. Today's special was a Kobe beef burger with hand-cut potato wedges for $8.00. They also had a wonderful sweet potato soup. I've had the bruschetta, panini and soups in the past and its always great. This is fine dining at a very reasonable price. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is very nice. Its never very crowded. This is a hided gem in Kansas City.

Great environment with out being too snooty. Try some of the bruschetta plates with some wine, or one of the many martinis to choose from.

One of the best places to see and be seen in Martini Corner! I even got to met the owner who told me to hit him up for when I wanted first class service. And being the socialite I am, I plan on doing that this fall. They have great drinks and happy hour is so cheap. I had the pear martini. LOOOVEEE!! I have yet to eat the food here but I will be hitting the owner up for that first class night out!

I love the addition of the patio. We just dropped by for some drinks and ordered the hummus appetizer. It was a delightful surprise with different flavors and the soft pita chips. We keep coming back for the atmosphere and the drinks.

Chef Kelli is still throwing down some mean eats! Today it was Kobe Beef Patty Melt, lightly pressed into a burger and placed on marbled rye from Farm To Market. It was served with some Dirty Diner Hash that was a nice balance of flavors. Rich and delicious. $9. Apparently, fish is a fave for her to cook, so "Pescitarians" are going to love the occasional fish specials or the scallops on the menu. Those scallops are my next adventure.
